Latin America. Riedel Communications and Haivision have signed an alliance whereby certain Haivision products will be offered as part of Riedel's Managed Technology services.
By combining Haivision's ultra-low latency live video streaming systems with Riedel's Easy5G private 5G solution, customers will be able to access end-to-end wireless video solutions from a single vendor, including planning, operation and support by Riedel's Managed Technology team.
"With Haivision, we are expanding our rental offering with powerful and proven real-time video streaming systems that perfectly complement our Easy5G technology," said Jaqueline Voss, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Riedel Communications. "By integrating them into a single supplier, this creates strong synergies and optimizes processes, drastically reducing production efforts for our customers."
The joint installation premiered on November 11 on the live broadcast of German public broadcaster WDR, marking the start of the Cologne Carnival season. Two Easy5G base stations provided reliable coverage throughout the Heumarkt, one of Cologne's largest public squares.
Two of WDR's 10 cameras were equipped with Haivision's 5G mobile video transmitters: a fixed wireless camera aimed at the public and a mobile unit used for live interviews and dynamic shots of the stage. The transmitters converted the SDI signals to IP and delivered them with stable, low-latency performance over the Easy5G private 5G network to Haivision's StreamHub receivers in the mobile unit.
"The implementation at the Cologne Carnival was an excellent starting point for our collaboration," said Peter Maag, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Haivision. "Together with the WDR, we were able to demonstrate the flexibility of combining our mobile video encoders with Riedel's Easy5G solution, enabling exceptionally low latency and stable wireless camera workflows over a private 5G network."
"Easy5G also supports additional applications on the same network," Voss added. "In the future, production teams will be able to use intercom functions via virtual SmartPanels directly on their smartphones, via the same Easy5G network that simultaneously transmits wireless video streams."
