Peru. The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications, OSIPTEL, opened the call for 60 comprehensive scholarships of the University Extension Program (PEU), a pioneering initiative in the country that celebrates its 30th edition specializing young people in telecommunications regulation and public management.
The PEU OSIPTEL is aimed at students in the last year of studies and recent graduates of the careers of Law, Economics and Engineering (telecommunications, telecommunications and electronics, electronics, systems, computer science, software, networks and communications, information and industrial), from universities licensed nationwide.
This program provides solid and specialized training in telecommunications regulation and public management, with face-to-face classes in Lima for 10 weeks, between January 12 and March 20, 2026, which will allow them to enter the labor market.
"30 years ago we were the first regulatory body to have the initiative to train future professionals who will lead the development of the telecommunications sector with a technical, ethical and citizen-oriented approach. To date, there are already more than 1700 graduates," said the executive president (e) of OSIPTEL, Jesús Guillén.
To ensure representative participation, 50% of the scholarships are distributed to young people from universities in Lima and Callao, and the other 50% to universities in other regions of the country.
How to apply for the PEU OSIPTEL?
Those interested may apply through two modalities: outstanding academic performance or admission exam.
In the outstanding academic performance modality, applicants must have occupied the first positions in the last three consecutive academic cycles or semesters of their university career. They may apply directly to one of the 6 scholarships reserved for this modality (two per career). In the second modality, the other applicants will compete for one of the remaining 54 scholarships, taking a knowledge test.
Registration began on Tuesday, August 5, through the official website https://beca.osiptel.gob.pe. The closing of registrations for the outstanding performance modality will be on September 14 and, for admission exam, on September 28, 2025.
Comprehensive scholarships
OSIPTEL will cover all the academic costs of the program (including materials), which will be held in Lima, in person. The expenses of food, local mobility and medical insurance will also be assumed for all those who obtain the scholarship. Scholarship holders from regions will also be subsidized for travel and accommodation expenses in the capital.
The scholarship holders who occupy the top five positions at the end of the program will join the regulator through a pre-professional or professional internship agreement, with one of the highest economic subsidies in the public sector.
