Argentina. The development of technology for the broadcast industry in Argentina is an example at the regional level. In this regard, TVyVideo+Radio spoke with Alejandro Pasika, from Acqua Electronics, one of the Argentine technology manufacturers, about the outlook in the country.
He pointed out that "We have excellent human capital, very good training and, in general, we know how to listen to customers; so our products are usually adapted to the needs and requirements that, in some cases, are particular to the region, but have added value. Because we are practically all SMEs, we respond quickly to special requirements and, due to the exchange rate situation, we have low development costs, which translates into greater competitiveness."
In its case, Acqua Electronics was founded in 2007, offering equipment for automatic monitoring, transcoders, encoders, format converters, matrices and audio equipment. Today they have a single headquarters, in Buenos Aires and operate directly, or through local colleagues, in Latin America, the United States and some European countries.
He assured that the manufacturers of broadcast technology in Argentina are all private initiatives with their own capital, because credit has been practically inaccessible for several years.
In addition, Alejandro Pasika detailed other problems that companies have, such as "The obstacles to imports that complicated and made components and inputs more expensive; we had to make decisions about how much and how to pass on these cost increases to prices; In general, we have resigned gains. In short, I would say that we were facing it with imagination and the will to continue."
And in the face of the measures of the new government, he pointed out that they have generated a sense of hope that makes improvements foreseeable; Specifically, commercial operations are slowly being facilitated and only in September an import tax was reduced to reduce costs.
Finally, the representative of Acqua Electronics, mentioned that "2024 is, so far, a year of few operations, although with interest in new projects. The general feeling is that more signs of recomposition and stability are expected to be observed before deciding and defining investments."
