Argentina. TyC Sports Argentina is an important success story for the company XV-Tech, a developer of software-based workflow solutions, of which SQUID is a product.
Ariel Mindiuk, president of XV-Tech, explained that his client has been using its system for more than 15 years to cover all top-level international sporting events, from each of the venues. "This started with the Beijing Olympics in 2008, going through each and every FIFA World Cup and Olympics to date. A project that is not only a perfect example of the practicality of the SQUID workflow, but also of the robustness of our solutions."
Since 2023, when the company was founded in Buenos Aires, they have developed SQUID, a suite of modular and scalable tools that generate the necessary workflow for ingest, schedule, capture, broadcast, graphic and archive operations within broadcast market structures. Today they have a wide portfolio of distributors throughout Latin America, as well as a Master dealer in the USA.
One of the main difficulties that XV-Tech has encountered in recent years is the volatility of costs in foreign currency, and the complications in operating in the exchange markets. "This has generated a significant distortion in the cost of raw materials, which are definitely transferred to prices. This, added to a marked recession, has complicated the outlook for the local market. However, we have worked closely with our client base supporting projects that needed to be executed beyond the current situation."
When asked about the economic measures of recent months in the country, he indicated that they have not generated a great impact on reality. "The flexibility of imports and access to the MULC would be what gave a little oxygen to the problem of imported inputs, but on the side of the customers, this has not unblocked investments. In fact, the elimination of the official National Guideline definitely lowers the investment levels of the media that had those funds in their cash flows."
Finally, Ariel Mindiuk indicated that this year the generation of projects continues, although at a slower pace than in 2023. And in Latin America the picture is similar, although with a more encouraging outlook in the short term.
