Latin America. Sony announced the latest version (version 2.0) of the Camera and Display plug-in for Unreal Engine and the Windows Color Calibrator color correction application from the Virtual Production Tool Set virtual production software.
This version will include new features, some of them available through the payment of a license. Virtual Production Tool Set is a combination of software products that expands the possibilities for creators and helps improve the quality and creativity of virtual productions.
The Camera and Display add-on allows users to simulate the appearance of their chosen camera on screen in a virtual space, before making the actual recording with an LED panel. Version 2.0 of the Camera and Display add-on adds the following models to its list of compatible cameras, in addition to the VENICE digital cameras: BURANO, FR7, HDC-3500, HDC-5500 and HDC-F5500.
In addition, it supports Epic Games' Unreal VCam, which allows you to intuitively control cameras in virtual space using an iPad. Sony also offers a fee-based license for the Live Camera Sync app, which can instantly read changes made on set to VENICE camera settings and lenses and reflect them in the Unreal Engine settings.
Color Calibrator is an application that creates correction LUT tables to achieve great color reproduction in Virtual Production environments and perform color correction (calibration) of the installed LED panel. Version 2.0 of Color Calibrator supports color calibration via the built-in camera models, as well as a user guide function that makes it easy to make the necessary adjustments. Creation of correction LUT tables is available through a fee-based license.
The latest version of the Virtual Production Tool Set was showcased on Sony's booth at IBC 2024 and will be available in early 2025.
