Peru. The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications, OSIPTEL, will award 60 comprehensive scholarships to students and university graduates who wish to specialize in the field of telecommunications regulation and public management, through the XXVIII edition of the University Extension Program, PEU.
Who can participate? The PEU OSIPTEL is aimed at students in the last year of their degree or recent graduates of Law, Economics, Economic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering.
In this new edition, to give a greater scope, three additional careers will be considered: Network and Communications Engineering, Information Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
The program seeks to provide technical and practical knowledge related to the organization, regulation and supervision of public telecommunications services, with the aim of training high-potential professional cadres that contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector.
In its 27 editions, the PEU has managed to train more than 1600 young people, being a hotbed of professionals for the entire telecommunications sector.
"According to their profile, 25% of the total number of our graduates hold managerial positions, 57% work in specialized technical positions; 12 % as independent consultants; and 5% as teachers and researchers. In addition, 30 of our graduates have managed to enter the world of work abroad, "said the executive president of OSIPTEL, Rafael Muente Schwarz.
Deadlines to apply
The PEU OSIPTEL includes ten weeks of training, from January 8 to March 15, 2024, through face-to-face classes in Lima. Those interested in participating in the selection process must register, through the https://beca.osiptel.gob.pe/ website, until October 20, 2023 for the outstanding performance modality, and until October 27 if they opt for the admission exam modality.
As in its previous edition, the OSIPTEL, through the outstanding performance modality, will give six scholarships to students who have occupied the first or second place in the order of merit of their specialty, of the last three consecutive academic cycles or semesters of their university career.
For those who apply for the admission exam, through which the remaining 54 scholarships will be awarded, the knowledge test will be taken on November 5, 2023, virtually nationwide.
Proceeds
For those who obtain the scholarship, the regulatory body will cover all the academic costs of the course (including materials), food expenses, local mobility and medical insurance for all scholarship holders. In the case of regional fellows, it will also subsidize the costs of travel and accommodation in the capital.
In addition, fellows who occupy the top five positions in the program will have the opportunity to join the regulator through a pre-professional or professional internship agreement, with one of the highest economic subsidies in the public sector.
