Colombia. In its ninth version, the CALA Awards seeks from the Contest to university filmmakers who show and give testimony with their achievements, of stories on a topic of their interest, that they are passionate about, and thus can capture in their videos the best narrative and technical qualities, which account for their skills and knowledge during their training process.
"The CALA Awards for the Best Audiovisual Piece of the University Contest 2023 are preparing to honor and celebrate the exceptional effort and vision of students from higher education institutions in Colombia. With an open call for young filmmakers and visual storytellers, this event has become a crucial platform to highlight emerging talent in the world of audiovisual art," said the leaders of CALA Awards.
In its 2023 edition, the competition is aimed at students from higher education institutions throughout the Colombian territory, inviting them to present their most innovative creations in the audiovisual field. The established rules ensure that each proposal has a fresh and contemporary touch, since the works must not be older than one year and cannot have been awarded in other competitions. This exclusivity ensures that the jury is pitted against a diverse set of original pieces, each of which carries with it the spark of novelty and artistic vision.

Keep in mind:
- Participants must present an audiovisual piece of maximum ten (10) minutes.
- The quality of the proposed works will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Communicative innovation: creativity of the treatment of the theme present in the production.
- Audiovisual narrative: creative use of image and sound through innovation and creation of new formats.
- Technical quality: the final product presented must accredit a sound level and visual invoice that approves the emission standards of an open television channel.
