Colombia. The Communications Regulatory Commission, CRC , published a new analysis that allows to know the behavior of the service of the open television channels, according to the figures reported by the concessionaires and licensees of the service.
Contents of the program
During the year 2022, 79% of the programming broadcast by open television channels was of a family nature; 8 per cent for children; 7% teen and 6% adult programming.
Family programming concentrated the schedules of local, private national and self-produced channels, standing at around 80% of the percentage of programs broadcast during 2022; In this item, a greater participation in the grid of the national public and regional channels is highlighted, of the programming aimed at children (19% of the grid) and for the adult audience (26% of the grid).
During 2022, Colombia's free-to-air television channels broadcast an average of 1,166 hours of children's programming per month, which represented a 10% reduction compared to 2021.
The use of institutional spaces by free-to-air television channels in Colombia focused on the dissemination of content from State entities whose purpose is to inform citizens about the proper exercise of their functions, in accordance with the broadcast plans issued by the CRC (84%); The remaining percentage (16%) was allocated to institutional spaces defined as fixed by regulation.
Use of systems for access by the deaf and hard of hearing population
Between 2021 and 2022, monthly programming with support systems for the deaf and hard of hearing increased 3 percentage points on national public channels (from 91% to 94%) and 8 percentage points on local channels (from 37% to 45%). The Closed Caption was the main access mechanism for the deaf and hard of hearing population used by open television channels in Colombia in 2022.
Requests, Complaints, Claims and Requests from Viewers
The main PQRS presented by citizens to private national channels during 2022 corresponded to petitions (36%); on the other hand, the applications were the main PQRS presented to regional channels (41%), national public (29%) and local (25%).
During 2022, the topics identified by PQRS that received the most from free-to-air television channels in Colombia were: Programming (30%), Information Pluralism (9%) and Audience Slots & Notices Prior to the Broadcasting of Programs (1%).
