MinTic will deliver community radio stations in 107 municipalities

mintic

Colombia. The ICT Ministry published for comments the draft terms of reference of the call for the viability of licenses for the provision of the Public Service of Community Sound Broadcasting.

"Community radio stations are the voice of local communities, informing and reflecting people's perspectives and experiences. We want people, especially in the region, to have communication channels, which allow them to access important information for their development and have new development opportunities," explained the Minister of ICT, Mauricio Lizcano.

The viabilities of the licenses for the provision of the Public Service of Community Sound Broadcasting will be granted to organized communications of the municipalities and non-municipalized areas of the national territory that do not have this service or that have expressed the need to have said means of communication, for which the National Spectrum Agency carried out the technical analysis of availability of radio spectrum for these channels.

In the draft of the call it is proposed to offer channels in 107 municipalities, of 24 departments: Amazonas (one municipality), Antioquia (12), Atlántico (1), Bolívar (3), Boyacá (19), Caldas (2), Caquetá (2), Casanare (1), Cauca (7), Cesar (1), Chocó (2), Córdoba (4), Cundinamarca (11), Huila (1), La Guajira (1), Meta (8), Nariño (6), Norte de Santander (7), Risaralda (1), Santander (5), Sucre (3), Tolima (6), Putumayo (1) and Valle del Cauca (2).
