Brazil. Globo improves the quality of live video transmission with the implementation of LiveU 5G technology by 2Livestreaming. 2Live joins Globo for greater mobility in 4G and 5G frequencies in the live coverage of the Sapucaí and Anhembi Carnivals.
The technologies ensured the improvement in the quality of the images of the mobile cameras, in addition to the interaction with lower latency and greater fluidity in live coverage.
The company 2Live, representative of LiveU technology in Brazil, supported Globo with live coverage in 4G and 5G, on different frequencies, in the two largest Carnival events in the country in 2023: at the Sapucaí Sambadrome, in Rio de Janeiro, and at the Anhembi Sambadrome, in São Paulo. For the occasion, the equipment was configured with Radio Globo Base Stations (ERBs) and operators distributed throughout the sambadromes.
5G transmissions attracted attention for their technological capability, as well as their ease and stability.
The advancement of 5G technology makes it possible to improve television coverage and video operations in general. "Those who watched the Carnival in Globo could notice an improvement in the quality of the images of the mobile cameras, including interaction with delay reduction, which brings a more fluid coverage," explains Uirá Moreno Rosário e Barros, from Globo's Strategy and Technology team.
The Globo team also noted benefits for the operation. "The team noted that the experience of using 5G LiveU units (LU800 and LU300S) at the event allowed for higher transmission speeds, which directly impacts the quality of the image captured by the cameras. In addition to the higher availability, we had less network delay, which allowed images to be transmitted with less delay," he added.
5G technology provides faster data transfer speeds and reduced latency. This provides more reliability for events that are transmitted remotely and have greater detail complexity. In this way, the live broadcast of the shows is enriched, helping to guarantee more excitement to the public at home.
