Argentina. While traditional equipment is still a good part of the business, according to the Argentine company Viditec, interest and large new investments are based on technological axes such as 4K, IP systems, remote production and virtualization.
This was highlighted by Eduardo de Nucci, general manager of Viditec. In conversation with TVyVideo + Radio he indicated that "Luckily all the suppliers we work with are aligned with these trends which allows us to maintain leadership in the market of sale and integration of Broadcast and Professional solutions".
That interest has faced a problem since 2022, equipment shortages. The general manager of Viditec explained that "The lack of availability of equipment is still present in almost all suppliers. Whether in the IT world or in the world of professional audio and video. It's not as severe as it was during the pandemic, but there are still significant delays and uncertainty in delivery dates. This is one more factor that delays the business cycle and as such is a factor that affects us."
Despite that situation, the results for Viditec in 2022 were positive. Eduardo de Nucci pointed out that it was a year of a lot of activity and substantial growth in reference to 2021, more than 40% year on year. "That is beyond the problems that in the second half of 2022 the possibility of fluid import of goods and services was compromised. Compared to the level of Pre-Pandemic activity we are reaching comparable levels, but with a big change in the type of services and products that the market requires."
These results were given, among other issues, to the fact that last year was the year of the World Cup and with all the Broadcasters and sports producers they had important projects. Sony camera chains, EVS servers, AWS-Elemental Encoding equipment, VIZRT graphics systems, Imagine playout systems, Tektronik-Telestream instrumentation, Desisti lighting systems and BlackMagic products, were the solutions and brands that had the most activity.
And about 2023, he commented that it is going to be a very challenging year from every point of view. "Election year in Argentina with a complicated economic situation and difficulties to import. On the other hand there are many projects and needs delayed by the lack of deliveries that have to be faced. In short, a lot of work and potentially very good results."
Finally, he indicated that the priority at NAB Show 2023 is to be face to face with customers and suppliers. "It was the main value of NAB 2022 and I estimate that this fact will be repeated. Sharing projects and proposed solutions will be the key to this NAB. At the technological level, I expect a greater offer of products and platforms that align with the new technological trends, but economically more accessible".
