IFT holds the forum "Women Radialists"

Mexico. Within the framework of the commemoration of International Women's Day, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, holds the forum "Women Radialists", a space in which women who collaborate in community and indigenous radios will share their experiences, knowledge and reflections on the need to promote the participation of women in all aspects of radio projects.

In addition, it seeks to generate and promote content with a gender perspective that contributes to eliminating socio-cultural barriers that have diminished its intervention in these media.

This forum, which will be held in a hybrid format on March 7 and 8, seeks to promote the participation and visibility of women in the processes involved in a concession to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum for community and indigenous radio stations.

Through keynote speeches and dialogue tables, in which public servants of the IFT will also participate, as well as experts and academics, topics such as the development of radio content with a gender perspective, the influence of community radios as a factor of social cohesion, gender equality and the media will also participate. the challenges of women in setting up a radio station and the obstacles they present, as well as the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in community radios, the right of hearings with a gender perspective and the interference of women in concessions for community and indigenous use, among others.

The generation of this type of analysis spaces responds to the IFT's commitment to gender equality and to join efforts to reduce the barriers faced by women and girls in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, which is also part of the Comprehensive Plan for Gender Equality "Experts who Transform", through which this regulatory body has implemented transversal actions to enhance the role of women and thus reduce the gender gap.
