Chile. With a total of 275 projects, it closed the application to the Fund-CNTV 2016, after concluding the online application to the contest. This figure represents an increase of 22.7% compared to the number of applications in 2015.
"Every year there are more projects that apply to the CNTV Fund, which shows us the development of our audiovisual industry and the importance of these funds over time. Today, audiences demand diversity on screen. With the CNTV Fund we seek to put new topics that are of general interest. Contents that allow reflection, comment, discuss and contribute to the cultural development of the country. The stages that follow this contest continue to be an excellent challenge for us: To be even more effective and rigorous with the technical-financial and content evaluation, to achieve greater efficiency in the allocation of resources. To this end, this year we held a public tender that will expand the possibilities of integrating our evaluation panels, new expert professionals in each competitive line, "says the president of the CNTV, Óscar Reyes.
For this 2016 version, the CNTV Fund has $4,103,448,000 to allocate among 10 competitive lines. One of the novelties for this year is that 31% of applications come from regions, an increase compared to 2015.
The Fund for the Promotion of Television Quality, for 24 years, has financed projects of programs for television of high artistic content and accessible to all Chileans, continues to be the most significant support that is delivered in the country for the creation and production of quality television programs. Through this contest, iconic programs of Chilean television have been awarded such as "El Reemplazante", "Los Archivos del Cardenal", "31 Minutos", the historical miniseries "NO", "Los 80", "Violeta se fue a los cielos", among others. "CNTV programs are valued by audiences. According to our surveys, viewers expressed 87 percent satisfaction with the Fund's programs released in 2015. Among the cultural attributes that citizens recognize in the programming financed by the CNTV is that it contributes to the reflection on social facts and highlights the cultural diversity of the country and strengthens the national, regional and local identity, "says the president of the CNTV.
Related to the internationalization of national audiovisual content, Reyes points out: "We are interested in maintaining the line of international co-production given that the internationalization of national audiovisual content is vital for Chilean filmmakers who are making excellent audiovisual products. The fantastic thing is that the coverage that these programs have in Chile, is not much for lots of causes, but abroad, the national audiovisual is increasingly valued and there we have to put our attention. Better schedules and take care of national productions. Recognize the value they deserve, which often happens more outside, than inside the country."
For this 2016 the competitive line for Microprograms returned which had a high participation with 23 projects in competition. It is a line aimed at promoting micro cultural, educational and social good spaces; public health, ecological; promotion of reading; scientific and artistic spaces; among others. Programs they have won in previous years are "The Ogre and the Chicken" (made in claymotion); "Chile suena", "Aliño Completo"; "Declaration"; "Fixed point"; "16 million", among others.
In the case of applicant programs aimed at children, for this version of the contest two different lines were again allocated, one line for preschool audiences from 3 to 6 years old and the other oriented to the public from 6 to 12 years old.
The programs awarded with Fondo CNTV in this line over time have obtained international recognition. "This year we once again have programs awarded with the CNTV Fund that are participating in important international instances, such as the Puerto Papel series participating in the Prix Jeunesse Internacional and the Annecy Festival. How not to mention the International Emmy's obtained by What do you dream of? We know of the internationalization of many of the contents that have been developed thanks to the CNTV Fund, and that not only fills us with pride, but also urges us to continue doing the best for our television. And to take care of our programs within Chile."
The next stages are the technical-financial evaluation of the postulated projects and then the content which are carried out by a panel of experts appointed by the Council, after a public tender of the evaluators.
The final results will be announced approximately during September 2016.
