Colombia. Radio Televisión Nacional de Colombia, RTVC, Colombia's public radio and television channel, has chosen Dalet Galaxy five to facilitate its comprehensive news operation. Bogotá-based RTVC provides breaking news and educational and cultural entertainment through three terrestrial channels.
RTVC had previously outsourced all of its news production and distribution to a third party. In 2020, the government approved a project to strengthen the infrastructure, information generation and in-house production of the newscast under the direction and mission of RTVC, giving full creative control over the development and distribution of the stories to the broadcaster.
The new design and installation, led by systems integrator NYL Electrónica, features capabilities to manage source materials and production, including cables, news planning and development, editing and artwork, and delivery. The underlying Dalet media asset management platform centralizes content for efficient access, while the central orchestration engine automates the story-centric workflow, enabling a frictionless content flow.
Carlos Raul Gonzalez Martinez, RTVC's supervising broadcast engineer, noted that Dalet's extensive experience in news production was as important to the success of the launch as its comprehensive news solution.

This was very important, especially for RTVC, because it was Dalet's 20 years of experience that helped create a new news environment with a new team. Beyond learning, there were many factors we had to consider when designing a better workflow for our copywriters, graphic designers and production staff. Thanks to their strong guidance, we have a very reliable and responsive platform for what we need today that will support us in the future."
The aim was for the deployment to take place within two months of the contract being signed. With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, Dalet and NYL Electronics led the facility launch initiative virtually and only key elements, such as physical installation and staff training, were conducted on-site and in person.
As in most countries, the pandemic increased the number of people tuning in to news in Colombia in order to get up-to-the-minute information, both on television and social media. The RTVC team is currently evaluating Dalet's integrated social media module, which provides content creation and distribution, as well as an analysis of audience engagement, helping RTVC refine the content the audience is looking for.
