International. Brainstorm has successfully completed the TelePorter project, funded by the Google Digital News Initiative. Thanks to the augmented reality Brainstorm technology, TelePorter allows reporters to 'teleport' to the television set from any location where they are reporting at that precise moment.
The TelePorter application is installed on the mobile phone and guides the user in the capture of his image and the communication between the reporter and the production center of the informative space or television program in question.
TelePorter has made the technology necessary to carry out the teleportation of the reporter very simple, affordable and really easy to use, using only a mobile phone that captures its video signal and sends it to the studio of realization of the television program through a standard Internet connection.
The project is based on Brainstorm's experience in 3D graphics, virtual sets and augmented reality, and arises from the patented TrackFree technology, and more specifically from InfinitySet's renowned TelePorter tool, and other advanced features such as virtual shadows, selective focus or optical tracking of the character, among others.
TelePorter has been designed to empower a new generation of journalists with compelling new technologies to improve the way they create and distribute news. By 'transporting' journalists and guests to an AR environment, the audience has access to much more engaging news, and the system also allows for additional content from standard presentation tools. TelePorter is as easy to use as it is affordable, and therefore even smaller TVs can now access this advanced news technology.
In addition to journalism and broadcasting, the development of this project has opened the door to the generation of applications for other sectors that require the 'telepresence' of people located in different places to share a virtual environment, or real, together. In this way, TelePorter can be used in the organization of events such as conferences, congresses and virtual fairs that, despite the pandemic and mobility restrictions, require remote participation, as well as for training and marketing events at a distance.
