Globo migrates to the cloud with Google Cloud

globo, google cloud,Brazil. Globo takes another step in its digital transformation and partners with Google Cloud, to continue its restructuring focused on direct-to-consumer deliveries and its journey to become a media technology company.

Over the next seven years, Globo will use Google's expertise in data management, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), as well as its global, scalable and secure infrastructure, which will support the communications company's technological evolution.

The agreement also has a direct impact on the media supply chain of Latin America's largest communications company, with the migration to Google's cloud of relevant stages of the production and distribution processes of its content. To promote continuous innovation, one of the priorities of the contract is the optimization of Globo's technological platforms, which should generate new business opportunities in the medium term.

"In recent years, we have delved into our processes, so the company was in fact prepared for the multiple challenges of the future. This strategic alliance for Globo, which summarizes some of the main pillars of our transformation, such as the focus on the public, data management, the alliance for innovation and new business models. In this sense, we believe that Google Cloud offers us the best solution to face these challenges, bringing innovation and also gains in scale and efficiency to our operation," explained Jorge Nóbrega, CEO of Globo.

As a priority cloud provider, Google Cloud will help Globo use data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to accelerate the company's digital transformation, modernize operations and leverage cloud technologies in a secure and reliable manner. Within the scope of the partnership, Globo:

- Migrates 100% of its data centers to the Google cloud, allowing to scale the production and distribution of media, launching new channels, among other initiatives;
- Transfer content to the Google cloud, in addition to digital products and services, such as Globoplay and the G family - G1, GE.com and Gshow;
- Optimizes, modernizes and unifies its platforms through a scalable and flexible cloud-based technology architecture, which will serve as the backbone of all services and products of the media conglomerate;

By advancing its data-driven strategy, Globo expands possibilities, such as optimizing personalized recommendations in real time to its audience. To incorporate artificial intelligence into Globo's innovation and solution development process, Google Cloud will accelerate the training of the company's teams with advanced machine learning knowledge.

Globo and Google Cloud have also established a working together dynamic to catalyze the creation and launch of solutions that adapt to consumer demands and market opportunities.

The first project, already underway, of this co-innovation structure will be the personalized integration of Globoplay with Android TV, with the aim of combining the programming of open TV (digital signal, broadcast) and TV via internet (broadband), resulting in new ways of interacting with the public watching the open channel of TV Globo, with a standard digital signal.

The innovations that integrate these two television environments have created a new window of opportunities in Brazil, which impact not only on the audience experience -with a more fluid and complementary navigation between digital and linear-, as well as new possibilities of hypersegmentation of the content offer.
