Digital radio improves experience for listener

xperi, radio digital, Mexico. Just a few weeks ago, on February 13, World Radio Day was commemorated, proclaimed by UNESCO and ratified by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

In this context and given the importance that radio has had since its origins in the history of humanity, Xperi highlighted one of the great advances it has had as a technology: to become digital for the benefit of the entire ecosystem around the radio industry.

With 10 years in the Mexican market, digital radio has become a fundamental part of in-car entertainment, achieving a more complete and positive audiovisual experience. Major automotive companies and OEMs have already integrated HD Radio into their dashboards and there are currently more than 70 million digital radio receivers manufactured globally.

This is thanks to the important benefits that only HD Radio -creator of IBOC (In band on channel) technology- offers, among which are:

- Publicidad -

• Digital Sound. HD Radio stations are listened to with great quality, without static and without interference. AM stations sound like FM and FM stations with CD quality.
No more gis!

• Additional channels. The same station can offer up to 4 different digital channels on the same frequency. Programs can be brand new and streamed on the additional channels HD2, HD3 and HD4.

• Program information. HD Radio technology allows you to display on the screens of the equipment titles of the songs, names of the artists, names of the stations and the announcers, among other information that enrich the listening.

In this sense, it is important to note that during the contingency the images on the screen have helped to reinforce social campaigns, such as hygiene measures against Covid-19.

HD Radio programming is free, does not require subscription or data consumption since it is received by aerial signals like traditional radio

Some figures in this regard in Mexico:
• It has more than 190 digital radio channels.
• More than 40% of the population has digital coverage.
• More than 20 brands and more than 125 car models already include HD Radio, making it possible to reach more than 50 million listeners.

Brands such as Nissan, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Honda, Jeep, Lincoln, Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, RAM, Subaru, Cadillac, GMC, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, Buick, Mercedes Benz, Infiniti, Kia and Tesla offer at least one car model with HD Radio in Mexico.
