Latin America. Business Intelligence Group designated the winners of the BIG Innovation Awards 2021, "for their contribution in the generation of new ideas with which they modify the way we experience the world", one of which was, in the product category, DTS AutoStage (formerly DTS Connected Radio).
DTS AutoStage is a state-of-the-art, global and immersive infotainment platform that offers drivers an unmatched personalized multimedia experience in the car, while retaining a prominent position on the dashboard.
DTS AutoStage's hybrid radio system combines over-the-air content with IP-sent metadata information in addition to personalized content that creates a unique and engaging experience for the listener that includes, for example:
• Information and images of the artist and the album they are listening to.
• Playlists.
• Content recommendation.
• Lyrics.
• Local events.
• Podcasts and more, enriching the broadcasts of hundreds of radio stations around the world.
In addition, it allows a seamless transition for the listener when the vehicle leaves the station's signal range by automatically moving from over-the-air transmission to that performed over the Internet.
Another important fact in this regard is the integration to DTS -in December 2020- of Entercom's Radio.com audio transmission platform that includes, in addition to the stations owned by the radio group that are transmitted on the platform, the complete portfolio of the application's radio station partners, which will be represented in the ecosystem.
"We've designed it for broadcasters as a free platform they can participate in," said Joe D'Angelo, Senior Vice President of Radio at Xperi.
DTS AutoStage has already been adopted by Daimler MB User Experience (MBUX) which is currently coming to market in the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. And this is just the beginning of the product launch in the United States, since Xperi is already working on the issue with the top 46 automakers so it's literally only a matter of time before it's in a wide range of vehicles.
"For two decades, Xperi has launched and developed technologies for entertainment, safety and the in-cabin experience. From HD Radio to DTS AutoStage to DTS AutoSense, our experienced team of engineers is continually innovating to shape the smart cars of the future," said Jeff Jury, General Manager automotive at Xperi.
