Latin America. Ross Video introduced version 10 of the XPression real-time motion graphics platform. V10, a substantial upgrade from previous versions, adds improved support for HDR workflows, multi-engine control for non-MOS workflows, HTML5 enhancements, and third-party vendor support.
Ross has enabled customers to develop their workflows and work in HDR on XPression as standard since version 8.7, released in July 2018. In XPression Version 10, users can now upload 48-bit and 64-bit PNG files as HDR materials, to produce motion graphics content in time that integrates into HDR workflows and supports the most demanding and cutting-edge productions.
"The introduction of the XPression Sequencer Non-MOS Workflow Gateway extends the power of XPression Remote Sequencer," said Patrick Twomey, director of product management at XPression. "XPression's single-operator workflows that control multiple engines can now be applied to more traditional show formats, such as talk shows, live sports, entertainment, and current affairs programming that may not use a MOS newsroom for summary creation."
XPression is an important part of the Ross ecosystem of live production solutions, so additions to the XPression API enable further integration of XPression with custom development, user interfaces, and automation control.
Equally exciting is the tighter integration with Ross DashBoard, the open interface control platform. XPression customers have been able to use DashBoard for quite some time, but so far the DashBoard API has been a fee-enabled option. Starting with XPression version 10, the dashboard API is now included as part of XPression Studio. The dashboard API allows for a simpler view of the XPression sequencer for less experienced traders.
