Latin America. ARRI announced its new EF Mount (LBUS) that allows you to use EF mount lenses in ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA Mini and AMIRA cameras.
In order for the advantages of using EF mount lenses to also reach those productions in large format, ARRI has redesigned its new EF mount with a light deflector with greater aperture and an LBUS connector, which allows it to cover the large format sensor of the ALEXA Mini LF as well as the Super 35 sensors of the ALEXA Mini and the AMIRA. The new EF mount (LBUS) makes it possible for alexa Mini LF, ALEXA Mini or AMIRA cameras to accept lenses with an EF mount. In the Mini LF and Mini it also provides an LBUS connector, which is not suitable for the AMIRA. The previous ARRI lens mount will continue to be available for THE AMIRA.
The use of cinematic-style EF mount lenses in film cameras has been a popular way to make available to productions with limited budgets, a wider range of high-quality optics at more affordable prices. Its mechanical design allows the use of external lens motors connected to the LBUS connector of the mount. Precise remote control is achieved through ARRI ECS manual units such as the WCU-4 and SXU-1 wireless units, as well as the OCU-1 operator control unit and Wired Master Grips.
In addition, the new mount allows filmmakers to use the wide range of EF mount lenses for still photography for shot insertion, including classic lenses, extreme wide-angle, tilt-shift, extreme telephoto lenses, macro lenses and other special EF mount lenses. The new mount allows the configuration of the internal iris motor and even powers the image stabilization integrated into some EF-mount telephoto lenses.
Built to ARRI's exceptionally high standards for durability and reliability, the EF Mount (LBUS) is suitable for continued wear and tear on professional film sets. Availability scheduled for the month of November 2020.
