Arri presented 4 Signature Zoom lenses for cinematography

lentes arriLatin America. ARRI introduced four new Signature zooms designed for universal use with any large format or Super 35 camera. They offer a fast stop of T2.8 for all lenses, unmatched focal depth range, absolute image consistency, HDR support, and 8K resolution power.

ARRI Signature Zooms deliver spectacular optical and mechanical performance that outperforms other cinematography zooms on the market. The four Signature Zooms, with an extender for the longest of them, cover a focal range from 16mm to 510mm, the largest in the industry. Image consistency is also second to none, with a fast stop of T2.8 present in all four lenses, as well as stable exposure and quality throughout all focal depths and iris settings.

The Signature Zoom carefully balances the demands of very high optical performance, a pleasant look and a lightweight mechanical design. Like the Signature Prime, they produce a beautiful and warm image, with soft and very flattering skin tones, natural colors and elegant touches of light out of focus. The Signature look is unique because it has character and yet does not produce visible aberrations or imperfections. On the contrary, its character has been delicately built on top of a structure of unparalleled technological sophistication. Viewers are enveloped in the images and connected to the narrative without interference.

There will always be instances in which prime lenses will be the first choice on set, but as a logical extension of the Signature lens family, Signature Zooms expand the number of situations where the time savings and practical benefits of zooms can be harnessed without compromising results. They also feature the Signature Prime's detachable magnetic back filter holder, which allows filmmakers to change and customize the look of the entire Signature lens system.

In addition to the faster set workflows of zooms, the specific features of signature Zoom speed things up even more. Flares are formed and perfected through the best lens coatings available, reducing delays; Assemblies are easier and faster thanks to its lightweight magnesium structure, and the integrated ARRI LDS-2 lens data system simplifies complex set and post tasks. Truly exceptional minimum focus distances increase flexibility but also save time by reducing lens changes and save money by making it possible for film crews to charge with fewer lenses.

What is vital to the design of the Signature Zooms is their adaptability to shoot not only in large format (also known as full frame or VistaVision) but also in Super 35. While the high image quality and the separation of beautiful backgrounds increase the quasi-three-dimensional feel of large-format cinematography, the resolution power of 8K and its amazing bokeh also ensure pristine and immersive images in the smallest Super 35 format. Equipped with an LPL lens mount, which is an open and universal standard for shooting in both formats, Signature Zooms can be used with any large format or Super 35 camera from any manufacturer.

Aware that high quality zooms are an important investment ARRI has put into practice all its experience and knowledge so that the Signature

Zooms are future-proof. Apart from the fact that they can be used for all formats up to full frame, other particularities guarantee that they can be used in a future that many of the current zooms will not reach. The fact that the look is not based on aberrations of any kind implies easier HDR and UHD workflows, as other lenses tend to exaggerate aberrations and create problems in post. 8K resolution and deep shadow detail will also place demands on future displays, while the revamped build quality and ARRI support structure ensure a product with a long service life.

The Signature Zoom 45-135mm T2.8 and 65-300mm T2.8 will launch during the first quarter of 2021, along with a dedicated 1.7x extender for the 65-300mm that makes it a 110-510mm T4.9. The 16-32 mm T2.8 and 24-75 mm T2.8 will be released later that year.
