Colombia. The Minister of Information and Communications Technologies, Karen Abudinen, launched a boost for the Colombian audiovisual industry, hit by its inactivity as a result of the economic emergency generated by the pandemic, with the opening of 5 calls totaling $23,395,684,518 million (about US$6.5 million) for the production of content.
In total there are 83 items that will be awarded to the same number of projects that are winners in these calls that seek to select multiplatform proposals of public interest, financing the complete process of realization, which includes pre-production, production and post-production. The genres financed in this process will be fiction, documentary, animation and web series chronicle.
The calls are aimed at national production companies, prioritizing access to micro, small and medium-sized producers, and to indigenous, Afro-descendant, Palenqueras and Raizales communities, Rrom communities, community TV channels and local non-profit operators. The platform will be enabled to upload proposals between June 23 and July 12.
"These calls become a historical fact with which we send a very clear message: from the National Government, with the leadership of President Iván Duque, we reiterate to our audiovisual industry that it is a fundamental sector to promote history, culture, creativity and communication in Colombia. In MinTIC with this unprecedented investment we want to activate this industry, so that they continue to develop their talent and their potential", said the ICT Minister, Karen Abudinen Abuchaibe.
