Mexico. As a result of the coordinated work between the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, and the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office, Profeco, the Contract Comparator is made available to users, a new tool that allows them to know and compare the main conditions included in the adhesion contracts that the concessionaires and authorized to provide their telephony and internet services -mobile and fixed-, as well as pay TV.
With the Contract Comparator users will be able to consult the main characteristics of the contracts, such as: the penalties that would have to be paid in case of breach of any of the clauses, the contractual guarantees required by the companies, the scheme under which the terminal equipment is granted and if a forced term is established. All the information is available to users in a simple way and with a friendly language.
In addition, this tool will allow users to search for contracts by the business name of the company or its business name, and compare up to 3 instruments and print the results of their search.
Likewise, users will be able to know and print the full content of the more than 800 contracts that have been analyzed and uploaded to the tool, which are equivalent to 89.2% of the total adhesion contracts that have been registered with Profeco.
It is important to note that, due to its characteristics, the Contract Comparator is a unique tool of its kind in the sector at an international level, being the first time that the most important information of the contracts is made available in a single place and in a comparable way.
For the development of this tool, the IFT and Profeco, within the framework of the coordination and collaboration actions carried out by both institutions to ensure the protection of users, exchanged information to analyze the more than 800 contracts presented by the concessionaires and authorized in compliance with the Official Mexican Standard NOM-184-SCFI-2018.
