Latin America. The manufacturer Genelec at the beginning of April the new large format 3-way monitor, the second largest after its flagship 1236, and somewhat larger than the 1234. In addition to being available as a complete intelligent active monitoring system in itself, it can also be obtained as an upgrade to the Genelec 1035 model, which has been widely used in some of the best recording studios in the world.
In conversation with TVyVideo+Radio, Miguel Domínguez, director for Latin America at Genelec, stressed that the new 1235 monitor is now available for manufacture. "As the highest-end monitor it is manufactured and supplied on demand. In case there is a project or client interested in this new model, you just have to contact your local distributor and we will get to work," he said.
Virtual training
In these times of contingency, the company is focused on developing free webinars for the dissemination of audio knowledge on specific topics, ranging from immersive audio to home studio through the use of subwoofers.
Miguel Domínguez stressed that "anyone can register for free and access online to the live webinars that are held in English and some in Spanish, at different times. Attending the webinar you receive a free certificate of attendance and when registering, even if you can not attend, you can access the recording later. These webinars are taught by various Genelec colleagues, experts in different areas of audio."
He also stressed that in these difficult times, Genelec continues its production without interruption from its only factory, in Finland, which fortunately is a country less affected by the pandemic. Factory hours have been expanded and work is now being done in two completely separate shifts, to minimize the possibility of an outbreak that could affect all workers in the factory.
"All positions that do not require physical presence are now managed with telework from home, including the office for Latin America. Both shipments and technical support to projects, sales, etc., continue to operate. Many of our distributors in the countries of the region have had to close their offices, but they also continue to telework. What has become difficult, in some countries, is the delivery of orders due to restrictions, but otherwise, all our distributors in the region are also still operational," he concluded.
