Peru. During the period of social isolation declared by the Executive to prevent the spread of Covid-19, voice and data communications have increased, so it is essential that telecommunications networks continue to operate normally, to guarantee the continuity of the service.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, constantly monitors telecommunications networks and permanently coordinates with companies to maintain the operation (resource management) and maintenance (attention to failures and breakdowns) of their telecommunications networks, in a 24-hour service regime for 7 days.
In this regard, the Director of Audits and Sanctions in Communications (DGFSC), of the MTC, Patricia Díaz said that the sector seeks to guarantee the service to citizens. He informed that all the actions of the companies are reported to his Management on a regular basis, particularly with regard to radio interference.
He also recalled that the MTC attends, on a daily basis, the reports of ill-intentioned communications to the emergency, emergency and information centers, to proceed with the suspension for thirty (30) days of the lines of the offenders.
Responsible use of Internet access
The MTC asks citizens to make rational use of Internet access. It is preferable to use fixed networks over mobile ones, if you have both connections available from home.
In addition, connections for remote work and studies during the day should be prioritized and recreational activities such as online games and videos that consume more bandwidth should be postponed to night.
It is advisable to use at night the download functions that some of these applications have, as in the case of Netflix, to watch the videos offline during the day and thus avoid overloading the network.
