Brazil. The Board of Directors of the National Telecommunications Agency, Anatel, approved new rules for the use of radio frequency bands by radio link systems.
Radio link systems are used for wireless communication between two fixed points. They are associated with the fixed service and, depending on the information transported (voice, images and data) and the characteristics of the environment, they can use different radio frequency bands and operational configurations.
The revision of the approved regulations consolidates, in a single regulation, rules so far fragmented between 26 different instruments. The counselor Emmanoel Campelo, rapporteur of the regulation, explained in his presentation that the rules were standardized and simplified, making the process of obtaining and operating the fixed service more understandable and transparent.
In addition, as a way to ensure greater flexibility to the rules and keep them updated in relation to the constant technological evolution of the systems and equipment used for radio links, the complementary technical aspects and operational requirements will be established, from now on, in specific acts of the Superintendence Grant and provision resources.
Anatel President Leonardo Euler de Morais said the review of the radio frequency destination and operating conditions is in line with the Agency's efforts to simplify and reduce bureaucracy. "The new regulations will allow the Agency and the sector to be better prepared to meet the new demands, with technical efficiency and speed, thus contributing to the improvement and expansion of broadband networks and the deployment of the fifth generation mobile (5G)," he said.
