Argentina. The 5G Americas organization and the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI) signed a cooperation agreement on March 10, by which both entities committed to work on the exchange of information on 5G deployments, the analysis of technological trends, and the discussion on radio spectrum requirements, in addition to the promotion of ecosystems that allow these networks to be promoted for the benefit of the economic and social development of the countries.
The agreement was signed by Celedonio von Wuthenau, on special representation of 5G Americas, Horacio Cristiani and Diana Marelli, president and secretary of the CAI respectively, during the day The Way of Argentina to 5G that was held in the Luis Huergo library of the Argentine Center of Engineers, in the city of Buenos Aires.
The meeting took place in turn within the framework of the 125 years of this entity and the 150 years of the graduation of Luis Huergo as the first Argentine engineer.
Roberto Massa, president of the Technical Department of the CAI, opened the day and referred to the role of engineering as a strategic activity for the development of Argentina and the needs of society. "For the political power to make good decisions, you have to have adequate information and engineers can give that quality information," Massa said.
For his part, Celedonio von Wuthenau, in special representation of 5G Americas, said that "the development of the fifth generation of networks is characterized by being very positive for operators and the economy in general for scalability and capacity, because today networks are mainly for people. But with 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) all human activity will run through those networks."
Martín Olmos, Undersecretary of Information and Communications Technologies of the Ministry of Public Innovation, referred to the policy faced from his area and stressed that "information and communication technologies are key to the development of people. Argentina is a country with an industrial vocation and in this context connectivity is key, so is the way we incorporate 5G".
