Colombia. In Andinalink Cartagena the company Evertz presented Scorpion, a relatively new equipment in the market that is aimed at projects where it is necessary to transport signal from one place to another.
Nicholas Ponomariv highlighted that "with this team we have been quite successful in projects where there is minimum latency required and with a bandwidth of 1giga to 10gigas. In Latin America, CNN and FOX, both at their headquarters in Brazil, are already using this system."
CNN for its new franchise in Brazil uses Scorpion to mainly link Brasilia, Rio and Sao Paulo and are expanding next year to more cities. And FOX is using it for sports production.
This system allows that, for example, in a stadium where an important event is produced, instead of carrying a truck with a group of engineers, producers, operators, the equipment is installed, you can see how many signals are needed and at what distance to send and it is sent to the headquarters of the company that is doing the event.
On the Latin American market, the Evertz representative stressed that they did very well when certain brands disappeared or were sold and end users needed to replace more traditional equipment, such as master control and SDI matrices.
"The increase in these projects was notable in Latin America, as well as in IP connectivity projects because there are already customers who are reaching the phase of saying goodbye to SDI and going to IP or a hybrid application, added to RF projects, fiber, compression and other solutions," he said.
Finally, he noted that Evertz remains steadfast for NAB Show 2020 at its North Hall booth.
