Mexico. The Master. Gabriel Contreras Saldívar concluded on February 29 his term as Commissioner President of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, after two periods of exercise.
The process to appoint the Presiding Commissioner is ongoing, as approved by the Senate on February 25. Meanwhile, the IFT will be chaired on an interim basis by Commissioner Adolfo Cuevas Teja, in accordance with the provisions of Article 19 of the Federal Law on Telecommunications and Broadcasting, as he is the oldest Commissioner among the oldest.
Mr. Adolfo Cuevas Teja has more than 20 years of experience in the sector, where he has worked since 1992. He has collaborated in the Mexican Institute of Radio; in the General Directorate of Radio, Television and Cinematography of the Ministry of the Interior; as an advisor on the matter in the Chambers of Deputies and Senators of the H. Congress of the Union; and in the previous regulator, Federal Telecommunications Commission since 2006 and until the creation of the IFT.
Within the mechanism of staggering in the appointments of the Senate for the first Plenary that was formed in the IFT, Mr. Cuevas Teja was ratified as Commissioner of the Plenary of the IFT on September 10, 2013, for a period that will end on February 28, 2022.
