Brazil. The Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers, SMPTE, one of the world's leading film and television industry associations, and SET, which hosts the largest technology and business forum. Media and entertainment in Brazil, jointly announced on Tuesday 27, a cooperation agreement focused on its members.
With this new program, SET members will have the opportunity to join SMPTE with an annual fee of US$100, representing a saving of 40% on the total amount. SMPTE members will have the opportunity to join SET with a 45% discount on the annual fee, approximately $60.

"Profitable, the joint venture offers exciting opportunities for media and audiovisual entertainment professionals in Brazil to expand their creative and technical expertise while connecting with the global SMPTE community to drive innovation."
The joint membership program will enable SMPTE and SET to cooperate on their common goals, including:
- Promote technological innovation.
- Offer professional development opportunities.
- Promote working groups and study market trends and challenges.
- Promote scientific and academic knowledge.
- Support to the main market players in the production of standards.
- Share content from each society's publications.
- Strengthen alliances and promote opportunities with local and international associations.
Benefits of SMPTE membership include discounts on SMPTE regulatory documents and regulations, access to the SMPTE member directory, webcasts of complementary technology and standards, free subscription to the monthly newsletter, and discounts on SMPTE courses, conferences, and events. SET members who choose to invest in the partnership will also gain online access to the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, as well as the opportunity to join or form local SMTPE chapters.

The launch of the new program took place simultaneously in Brazil and the United States. In Brazil, SET President Carlos Fini announced the news during the SET EXPO 2019 Opening Ceremony.
