Latin America. Most Latin Americans are football lovers. It's in our blood: as children we play ball in the street, we meet with family and friends to watch the game of our favorite team and we saw the performance of our national team.
Last year, during the World Cup, the highest proportion of potential spectators was reached in South America (96.6%), the highest during a championship according to FIFA. In addition, 9 of the top 10 territories were in South America and Europe, which had their teams competing in the championship.
According to Kantarlboe, Brazil was the country with the highest average audience for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. With an average of 31.04 audience points, the Carioca country was the only one that reached that large number of viewers, followed by Panama with 28.81 points and Chile with 26.54, numbers that show the love we feel in Latin America for football. For Samsung, the increase in sales began a couple of months before the championship: TV sales in the region increased 49% during this period.
Large screens, an expanding trend
The local consumer trend in the TV segment for 2018 was marked representatively by premium technologies and large screens. Sales of Audio and Video devices (televisions and soundbars) at the end of last year showed that Colombians prefer devices with 4K UHD technology and televisions over 55 inches in their homes.
Likewise, for sports lovers, Samsung's line of UHD 4K and QLED TVs feature exceptional picture quality that allows the viewer to see the ball from various angles and unique details of the game.
In addition to its large size, the devices have built-in 4K technology that not only offers the best image quality -with an RGB pixel format of 3840 x 2160 resolution-, four times higher than the technology handled by Full HD TVs -1920 x 1080p-, but also has features that make it unique.
