Movistar concentrated 71% of claims in 2018 in Peru

Peru. At the end of 2018, users of public telecommunications services filed 3 million 054 thousand 257 claims, mostly for reasons of billing, quality of service, veracity of the information provided and collection, according to statistics from the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications, Osiptel.

Rafael Muente Schwarz, president of the Board of Directors of Osiptel, explained that the results show users much more empowered in their rights when it comes to contracting and claiming about a public telecommunications service, be it mobile telephony, fixed telephony, Internet and pay television.

The company Movistar concentrated 71% of the claims generated in 2018, that is, 2 million 171 thousand 651. Meanwhile, Claro generated 19% (595,093), Entel 6% (168,273), Bitel 2% (48,221) and other companies 2%, respectively.

Claims for mobile phone services (1,817,074), Internet (248,806) and cable television (248,163) accounted for 76% of the total claims made in 2018.

New structure
On the other hand, Osiptel presented the new competitive structure, at the end of 2018, of the mobile telephony, Internet and pay TV markets, respectively.

It should be considered that the company Movistar fell more than 5 percentage points in mobile Internet connections in the period 2016 -2018. Meanwhile, Claro's participation remained stable. While Entel and Bitel advanced 5 and about 2 percentage points, respectively.

Only the public services of mobile telephony (1,817,074 claims), Internet (248,806) and cable television (248,163) concentrated 76% of the total claims made in 2018.
