International. One of ITU's most important meetings will take place in 2019: the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19), which will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh from 28 October to 22 November 2019.
The World Radiocommunication Conferences, held every three to four years, are mandated to review and, where appropriate, revise the Radio Regulations, which are the international treaty governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
At WRC-19, ITU's 193 Member States will discuss a range of issues, such as the allocation of new frequency bands to 5G (IMT-2020), high-altitude platform stations (HAPS), regulatory measures to support the use of new and improved technologies in satellite applications, aeronautical and maritime services, as well as intelligent transport systems.
To assist in the preparation of the next WRC-19, the 2nd session of the Preparatory Meeting for the Conference (CPM19-2) was held in Geneva, Switzerland, to bring together technical studies related to each of the wrc-19 agenda items and to clarify the various options offered to WRC-19.
