Colombia. During the Andinalink Cartagena 2019 fair, which was held the previous week, representatives of supplier entities from Latin American countries met to carry out the idea of creating a regional entity for the exchange of experiences and defense of common interests.
"Some countries such as Brazil and Argentina are very advanced in the implementation of fiber optics by suppliers; others have better experiences in infrastructure sharing. We have to try to harmonize regulatory issues," explained Basilio Pérez, president of Abrint, who represented the entity at this event.
The regional entity of the suppliers will be called LAC-ISP, its headquarters will be in Montevideo, Uruguay, at the same address as LACNIC, the entity responsible for the distribution of IP addresses in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The bylaws must be designed until April and the election of the first board will take place in May, at the next LACNIC meeting in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
