Colombia. The Communications Regulation Commission published the results of the measurement of the quality of services from the experience of users for the year 2017.
In this annual report, the mobile voice and data service and the fixed data service are verified. To make the measurements of the mobile service, vehicles that are constantly touring the city are used. These routes are made for 2 months in a row, the route is chosen randomly and in each one a significant number of measurements are made to know the quality of the service offered to the user. In this segment, they seek to know if the call was cut, if the call does not come out, if the internet is slow and how long it takes a page to open.
To make the measurements of the fixed services, the entity goes directly to the homes in order to measure both the connection via cable and via WIFI, installing measuring equipment in several randomly chosen homes in each city. This way you can know the download speed, the upload speed, the loading time of a website, the latency per operator and the latency per destination and per city.
The study was conducted in cities such as Bogotá, Cali, Medellín Barranquilla, Quibdó Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, among others.
