International. The 2018 Media Festival celebrated the best in media thinking and communication in Latin America over the past 12 months. A Gothic-themed event, the Festival of Media LatAm Awards was held at Turnberry Isle, Miami, and brought together some of the most influential names in the Latin American media community.
A total of 56 awards were presented during the event, which included three Grand Prix awards and 19 gold awards. MediaCom takes home 15 amazing awards, eight of which were given to MediaCom Mexico. Iniciativa followed closely behind with 11 awards, including five for Iniciativa México. OMD was the third highest ranked winner with seven awards and six of them went to OMD Dominica.
The show stoppers of the night were the three Grand Prix awards: MediaCom was awarded the Agency of the Year Network, MediaCom Mexico won the Agency of the Year and Lo Chingón está Aquí beat the competitors in the Campaign of the Year.
Alejandro Betancourt, Brand Operation Leader for Latin America and Venezuela at Procter & Gamble, was part of the respected and diverse panel of Judges from Latin America and spoke about the winners of the Grand Prix Campaign of the Year award: "Bravo for taking on a social issue like this, feeling the brand's responsibility to defend its heritage and values."
Once again, Mexico was the leading country in the region with a total of 17 awards. Colombia took second place with 11 awards and Argentina won eight, proving that the Festival of Media Latam awards are truly a representation of the Latin American industry.
Jeremy King, CEO of Festival of Media concluded the evening: "These awards are a celebration of creativity and diversity in Latin America and revealed some of the ideas that dominate the region. We had some excellent entries and the judges had a difficult job in picking the winners. Congratulations to everyone, including the companies that were shortlisted."
