Brazil. Fake news, which has the power to manipulate social, economic and political trends, is at the center of the great discussions, in Brazil and in the world, when the issue is technology and social networks. Data journalism is one of the main solutions to combat this evil of modern times.
This important debate will be present during the SET EXPO 2018 Congress, the largest training and professional updating congress in Latin America, which takes place between August 27 and 30, at the Convention Center of the Expo Center Norte, and is organized by the SET - Brazilian Society of Television Engineering, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.
The panel "Data Journalism" will address topics such as the evolution of big data, new artificial intelligence technologies and natural language processing, opening of public data and massive use of social networks, on Monday, August 27, at 2 p.m. The moderation will be by Daniel Monteiro, R&D manager of TV Globo.
Journalist Bárbara Liborio, from Editora A los Hechos, will talk about how technology can combat fake news. The Fatima project, for the development of artificial intelligence in the area of fact-checking, will be addressed. The result of a partnership with Facebook in the area of education for the media, Fatima is a robot for Messenger that will guide people on how to bring information into the universe on the Internet. Fatima comes from "FactMa", short for "FactMachine".
Data visualization on the web will be another topic discussed, with speaker Helder da Rocha, Consultant and Instructor of Argo Navis Technology and Art. The conference will give a brief introduction to data visualization and showcase a selection of examples that use the power of the web to reveal data through interactive graphs and maps, as well as discuss the main technologies, tools, and services that can be used to create interactive views for the web.
Speaker João Castellani, Manager of Information Architecture and Integration at TV Globo, will show how the television network uses big data technologies to tell stories about data, with practical use cases.
