"With RED we present a new sensor; it's not so much a new camera, it's the same camera that was already known in the last two or three years. The new generation of cameras is called DSMC2 (Digital Stills and Motion Camera), 2 because it is the second generation. The novelty for this year is this sensor, which is known as GEMINI. It is a 5K sensor, which is an ideal resolution in terms of optical coverage, Super 35 aspect format, "he said.
He added: "Then we have an 8K sensor, which is MONSTRO, it is a full frame sensor, the optics are more limited; precisely now that full frame optics are coming out, but this is a Super 35 sensor gives many options of optical coverage of those that already exist, optics that was already manufactured for the cinema. It is a 5K Super 35 sensor; the size of each pixel is 6 microns – that's the largest pixel size of all the sensors that RED has taken out from the beginning – it has taken out six sensors in the 12-year history, it is the sensor with the largest pixels. As it is a larger pixel it allows for greater light absorption, it is a new and better pixel design."
Fernández Gaos stated about RED's performance in Mexico: "It is the first time they are in Mexico, as far as I know so far it has not been used in a commercial shooting. The one that was designed for the space was a sensor that had 3200, it was low ligth, it was not normal, for the user the double sensitivity 3200 + 800 was enabled, which gives the user the possibility to use it outdoors like any other 800 camera or also enable the low ligth function. "
