Asotic held its seventh forum in Bogotá

Colombia. During the 29th and 30th of May, different entities and operators of the television, internet, telephony service providers and telecommunications products met in the 2018 version of the Association of Information and Communication Technology Operators of Colombia, Asotic.

This forum, which takes place every year, was attended by the engineer Ernesto Orozco Orozco, representative of the Governorates before the National Television Board, JNTV, who participated in the Panel of Regulators 'Projection of ICT public policies to 2021', in which they talked about different topics, including the strengthening of television with the financing and promotion of audiovisual products

He stressed that "today public television enjoys a great moment, we have channels that win national and international awards. We have allocated what is due to us by law to public operators and we finance productions of regional operators, multiplatform projects, independent producers and minorities; all this has paid off and can be seen on public service television channels."

Engineer Orozco also held the 'Training on the new subscription TV regime', where he spoke about the Modification of the Regulation of the Subscription TV Service, the Modification of the Subscription TV Compensation Regime and the Opening of public tender 001 of 2018.

In this speech, engineer Orozco stressed that "for this exercise the National Television Authority and MinTIC, we have promoted a discussion bank with different agents of the industry that has allowed us to understand the realities, analyze the different forms of intervention and measure its impact. Many of you participated in the technical tables, we advanced the mechanisms of consultation and socialization in an open way with the industry and we appropriated the different diagnoses made by the CRC, the DNP and different regulatory provisions".

In addition, it concluded that the objectives of this work were efficient regulation, reducing asymmetries, optimizing the surveillance and control system with a view to simplifying regulation, adapting regulatory burdens, simplifying requirements, eliminating barriers to entry and exit, and having a surveillance regime to facilitate and encourage compliance.
