Latin America. Despite the perception that is had in the market and before the eminent arrival of digital radio, the AM frequency has a great life ahead in various countries of the world, both in America and in Europe, and this continues as an important sales factor for Nautel, said Gerardo Vargas, Sales Manager for Latin America of the company.
"We are known for introducing advanced AM and FM technology. To talk about AM and new technologies, a customer of ours – Radio Hungaria – in Hungary, inaugurated a 2 MW Nautel transmitter in AM. Our AM line is state-of-the-art – the last model we introduced three years ago – and we are updating. We do very well in AM and sell all over the world. There are some markets in which AM has fallen, but for example in Panama a client replaced its transmitter with a new one and that is a leading radio in the area that is making investments in AM. Also in the United States, we see that among the first five radios that generate more income, they are AM. There are still many countries where they need a lot of AM coverage," the executive described during NAB Show 2018.
He said of his offering: "We are introducing our line of transmitters for AM and FM. We have new offerings and technologies. For digital radio we have the HD Multiplex, with which a fully digital radio can put up to 12 channels of digital radio on the same frequency. It is not a product, but a product concept. We are presenting the future to radio. In this technology we have used developments that exist today to be able to implement this technology."
Vargas mentioned that the current technology allows us to combine and offer new tools to customers: "We have another interesting introduction of advanced technology and that is that all our AM and FM transmitters connect to the internet and have remote access via IP, with 100% remote control and monitoring, from any point the engineer is. It is the companion of the user interface, with basic functions: off, on, increase or decrease in power, status, alarms, but that gives a status through the mobile".
On the presence of the company in Latin America, the executive commented: "We are doing very well in Latin America, it is an excellent market for us. For example, in Mexico we have installed 940 transmitters and it seems that this year we are going to reach 1000; in Colombia we have a very good positioning; in Argentina and Brazil we are doing very well; in other countries we have local competitors, but we are doing well with the increase in market share."
