Socialization of the new community TV regime ended

Colombia. With a closing day at the RTVC facilities in Bogotá, the socialization of the new Community Television Compensation Regime culminated.

This event was attended by Gabriel Vieira Posada, representative of the Universities and Suzy Sierra Ruiz, representative of Civil Society before the National Television Board (JNTV), and 35 community television operators from Cundinamarca, Boyacá, Meta and Tolima.

Gabriel Vieira highlighted in this space that "the objective is to better delimit the operation of the community television service and define the parameters that differentiate it from the provision of the cable television service. For the National Television Authority, ANTV, it is very important to insist on the generation of its own content since community television has by nature to accompany in its day to day the community they represent".

He also added that when community television channels reach parts of the country where the state has not, Community Associations should not pay any compensation.

It should be noted that for three weeks seven days of socialization were carried out that were part of the schedule of activities, which aimed to publicize the benefits of the new regime for the provision of this service such as the simplification of the license process for organized communities, reduction of compensation charges, among others.

The tour included a visit to cities such as Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Medellín, Cúcuta, Popayán, Cartagena and Pereira, where 170 people from community television operators from the aforementioned cities and their surroundings attended.

These days had the participation of the members of the JNTV, the director, Ángela María Mora Soto and professionals from the Coordination of Regulation, Concessions, Surveillance, Control and Monitoring, and Administrative and Financial, who advised the guests on the different concerns and also shared instructions to support the anti-piracy campaign of the ANTV.
