Colombia is more attractive for international filming

Colombia. Mile 22, the American film that these days is shot in several locations in Bogotá, is the most recent international production benefited with the incentives granted by the Consideration of the Colombia Film Fund.

Thanks to this incentive, the production in which actors of the stature of John Malkovich and Mark Wahlberg participate will obtain an economic remuneration of around 30% on the designated production budget.

"Colombia is increasingly a very attractive location for international filming. The support offered by the Colombia Film Fund enhances the interest in recording large-format films in our country," said the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, María Lorena Gutiérrez.

Since 2014, the Colombia Film Commission -which operates from Proimágenes Colombia-, operates the stimulus Compensation Colombia Film Fund, which offers a refund for films totally or partially shot in Colombia of 40% of the value of the expenses of cinematographic services and 20% of the value of the expenses in logistics services.

"The financial stimulus to the film productions that film in the country has been an enormous success that has built confidence in our film services. Therefore we have to bet heavily on preserving it and nurturing it," said Claudia Triana, director of Proimágenes Colombia.

The stimulus Contraprestación Fondo Fílmico Colombia was created by the economic and labor impact generated by the filming of international film productions in Colombia. Mile 22, for example, will spend around 13,000 million pesos in the country, which will irrigate the national economy.

The wide range of unique landscapes, the diversity of races, the possibility of filming in natural settings that recreate ancient or modern cities and a flexible job offer add to the attractions of Colombia to shoot films.
