Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, through the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications, has carried out so far this year 201 interventions to clandestine radio and television stations throughout the country.
These operations resulted in the seizure of 644 radio and television station broadcasting equipment that did not have authorization from the MTC. The Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Police of Peru also participated in these interventions, within the framework of the provisions of Law No. 28278 – Radio and Television Law.
The interventions were carried out in Lima, Arequipa, Puno and La Libertad. Among the equipment seized are transmitters, spiral and yagi dipole antennas, monitors, computers, audio consoles and microphones. With these actions, the operations of clandestine stations were ceased.
The most recent operations were carried out on November 10, on the San Gerónimo hill in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, where three precautionary measures were executed against illegal radio stations.
