Argentina. With the Buenos Aires Declaration, proposed by the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group, TDAG, which details objectives, proposals and results of the ITU Strategic Plan for 2020-2023, the World Telecommunication Development Conference, WTDC 2017, ended. This event is the most important organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and this year's event was its seventh edition.
Under the theme "ICTs for the Sustainable Development Goals", the different delegations agreed on a series of documents on which they worked during the two weeks of the event. There they raised the importance of strengthening links and goals through regional initiatives as well as contributing to ITU's Strategic and Action Plans, in order to support global development and improve the international connectivity of all the world's populations.
The commitment to cooperate in the expansion of infrastructures, applications, telecommunications and ICT services to further develop the information society and close the digital divide was also raised.
During the two weeks in which the Conference took place, national officials continued to strengthen ties with leaders from other countries and promote Argentina's integration into the world.
For their part, the Enacom authorities held meetings with the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) of Brazil, the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) of Mexico, the Inter-American Association of Telecommunications Companies (ASIET) and the US company Verizon.
Likewise, Enacom signed a Memorandum of Understanding together with the non-governmental organization Internet Society (ISOC), with the aim of promoting the development of new networks in our country. In addition, a recognition was given to Marco Aurelio Andrada, who was the only Argentine to take the place of Secretary-General of ITU.
Finally, in parallel to the development of the Conference, the awards ceremony was held to the winners of the PPP contest organized jointly with Scholas Occurrentes and the results achieved by the "Children and Screens" campaign promoted by Enacom were presented with the aim of raising awareness among adolescents about the safe use of the Internet.
