TeleExpo Celebrates Progress in Peru's Telecommunications

Peru. Around 1,100 attendees at TeleExpo 2017 received extensive information on communication tools and technological advances in telecommunications and the digital world on May 17 and 18, days in which the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), together with the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the National University of Engineering, organized this event.

On both days, with big data as the central axis, TELEEXPO offered keynote lectures by national and foreign exhibitors as well as first-class mini-conferences linked to the use of ICTs in sectors such as education, health and public transport.

In this sense, the MTC had an information stand in which information cards were delivered on broadcasting services, economic obligations and administrative simplification applied in the procedures of the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications. In turn, the General Directorate of Concessions in Communications (DGCC) delivered informative leaflets on administrative simplification, Internet, Mobile Coverage, the National Fiber Optic Dorsal Network, among other topics.

Among the main queries of the attendees, those related to procedures that a cable company has to carry out to be able to connect to the RDNFO stood out, as well as those to obtain concessions and telehealth and teleeducation projects in the country.

Similarly, the benefits of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) were disseminated and the operation of the early warning system (EWBS) was demonstrated. And the main queries were those related to how to identify if a TV has an integrated tuner for DTT, as well as the coverage of it.

Finally, the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications delivered information related to radio frequency in our daily lives to banish the myth that mobile phone antennas harm health. This motivated more attendees at TELEEXPO 2017 to make consultations on formalization and reduction of piracy and interference.
