Latin America. With a wide range of solutions that incorporate technologies like HDR natively, Hitachi showcased its latest releases during NAB Show 2017. Many of these developments have already been successfully implemented in various Latin American countries, said John Humphrey, Hitachi's VP for Business Development.
"We're talking about HDR, something that's making a lot of noise these days. TV is addressing the difference between HDR and SDR, everyone is interested. Our competitors are doing HDR in some way, but we have it in all our cameras: we are really leaders in HD and HDR."
He added: "What makes it special is that you have an explosion for a price that increases little with HDR in our cameras. So you get a better image but not for more cost. It's good business."
On the presence of the Japanese company in Latin America, he described: "We currently have markets in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico."
Humphrey detailed: "Right now the biggest market we have is about 50% in Argentina, Chile, Peru Colombia and we are dealing in Paraguay and Bolivia. In Panama our presence is 50%. Panama's main chain uses only Hitachi cameras, about 67 cameras in Panama."
And he highlighted the company's presence in Mexico. "Mexico is big for us with TV Azteca – it bought 15 cameras in 2011 for its studios in Periférico Sur; it's a big market for us, and Televisa Deportes, with four cameras for its sports studio."
