Peru. To explain the progress of a new and important strategy to combat piracy, the second session of the Table Against Broadcasting Piracy was held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC.
Led by the director of Control and Supervision of Communications of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Miguel Arce, the meeting showed some of the positive results of the interventions made in public events broadcast by pirate radios in Lima. In this way, the sanction also falls on those entertainment entrepreneurs who profit from pirate broadcasting signals.
"Thanks to the work of the Working Group, we are applying the principle of opportunity, in which it is more important to get to make the intervention in the hours prior to the realization of these public events," Arce explained.
The last interventions were carried out in San Juan de Lurigancho and Los Olivos with the support of the Public Ministry, the National Police, INDECOPI and SUNAT. Likewise, the joint work with different local governments has allowed the closure of these public premises in which parties and live concerts were held, promoted through pirate radios.
It should also be noted that in the course of 2017, 538 inspections have been carried out on illegal radio broadcasting stations. As a result, 71 stations have been seized in Comas, Independencia, Carabayllo, San Juan de Lurigancho and Ate.
For the next session of the Table Against Broadcasting Piracy, it is expected to have a protocol of joint action between the various entities of the State, so that it acts not only quickly but with all the permits of law for successful interventions.
It is important to remember that companies, institutions and individuals that advertise on illegal stations commit a serious infraction and that the fines fluctuate between 10 and 30 Tax Units (UIT), equivalent to S / 40,500 soles and S / 121,500, respectively.
