Colombia. Andrés Muñoz Raffo, renowned video editor and professional graphic composer with more than 20 years of experience in the audiovisual medium, will give a lecture at Andina Link Cartagena 2017. That's why we talked to him and he gave us a little mouth open about his presentation.
Andrés has distinguished himself in the industry as an excellent colorist and in working with workflows for Digital Cinema and television. He is a researcher on issues of new formats and codecs for manipulation of moving images, he has focused with special interest on works related to the conservation of archives, their digital restoration and how to make this a source of income. In Colombia it has the representation of the firms: Metus, SGO, AJA, IPTec and Movile Viewpoint, all under its own Astra label.
In conversation with TVyVideo+Radio, Andrés Muñoz, began by asking a question: do you have in your warehouse, warehouse, bookstore, or archive room a considerable enough volume of audiovisual material to think about the possibility of taking those 3/4" tapes, Dvcam, MiniDV, VHS, Betamax, CDs or DVDs with the broadcast of your channel, your commercials or your programs on 1" tape or BetaCam, DigiBeta? If the answer is yes, and you never had the idea (or already had it and left it halfway) to start cataloguing and organizing your files (unifiedly) in digital media and with a codec standard to preserve acceptable quality, then it's time to do it.
The second question is: What do you plan to do with those files? Keep them as if they were documents? Or as a reminder of what you have done, created or built in the audiovisual environment? How about I tell you that you can somehow obtain an economic benefit, if you have your audiovisual archive properly. Rather, MONETIZE your media assets.
Activate your budget watches, dear owner...
