Peru. As part of the measures to expedite the procedures related to broadcasting services, the Ministry of Transport and Communications issued a Supreme Decree amending the Regulations of the Radio and Television Law and, among other measures, reducing costs and simplifying requirements.
One of the main changes considered in Supreme Decree No. 022-2016-MTC, published in the official newspaper El Peruano on November 5, is the reduction of costs incurred by those administered to obtain an authorization. This, because they will no longer cover the cost of publishing their applications for authorization, as these will be made through the MTC website.
In addition, some requirements were simplified by requesting only copies of various documents. Likewise, in the case of the identity document, it will not be necessary to present a copy of it, but only to indicate the number.
Additionally, in the case of native or peasant communities, complex requirements are eliminated, only being necessary the presentation of a document that accredits them as such, in case they are registered in the Official Base of Indigenous or Original Peoples.
In terms of renewals, the requirement for the publication of the authorization renewal resolution is eliminated, thus reducing this cost for those administered.
These modifications aim to improve the regulatory framework of the broadcasting service in favor of the holders of authorizations, seeking to guarantee the continuity of the provision of the service at the national level and in order to bring the State closer to the citizen, which will strengthen and expand this activity in the country.
