Latin America. The Syfy channel premieres next Thursday, September 22 at 9pm, "Haloon", an innovative science fiction series, which has the characteristic of being the first hybrid viewing – television and virtual reality -, so it will also be available through the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR devices, operated by Oculus.
Set in the year 2040, a future in which virtual reality is as ubiquitous as smartphones are today, the series follows Jules Dover (Lisa Marcos), a detective in the Virtual Reality Crimes Unit, who investigates the first real-life murder that takes place within virtual reality – a crime that shouldn't even be possible – and the conspiracy she uncovers behind it.
The alleged victim is Blake Creighton (Michael Therriault), CEO of the world's leading virtual reality company: Halcyon, who, cornered by competition in the virtual reality market, discards the use of traditional virtual reality equipment, and allows its users to access the virtual space using neurological implants that manipulate the senses to create a virtual world. When Creighton is found dead, presumably murdered, Detective Jules and her partner Asha (Harveen Sandhu), must investigate whether it could be the first virtual crime in the world.
Directed by BAFTA nominee Benjamin Arfmann (̈Random Stop ̈), the 15 episodes of police investigation cases of ̈Halcyon ̈, will alternate between 10 episodes that will be broadcast on the linear channel of Syfy, and five episodes exclusively available for Virtual Reality (VR) platforms. For those viewers who only want to enjoy the linear transmission, the five episodes of virtual reality will be broadcast as recapitulate capsules, in order to ensure that all fans of the series can enjoy the entire story, without losing sight of any detail.
̈Halcyon ̈ is a short-form scripted series, created and produced by Secret Location, a content studio specializing in emerging platforms, and several times winner of the Emmy® and Lion Awards at Cannes. The series was funded by the Independent Production Fund of Canada and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
